Unmotivated

Just thought I'd share. I have a final in 1.5 hours, am having trouble concentrating/caring about studying. Frankly, I could care less. It doesn't help that my half attempts at school stuff have been rewarded with A's thus far.

Really, today's final....I could care less. When in my life am I going to need to have the comprehensive history of the struggle for rights for the poor, or have a systematic solution for the upcoming shortfall of Social Security funding memorized to the point I can spit out on command?

That's all. I really do love school though. I've just checked out mentally for today.

Baseball in the Neighborhood

With the streak of decent weather continuing, we headed down to the baseball fields near our house to play a bit of catch this morning. Jeremy and I were having a good bit of fun ourselves, when a whole team of people (literally) walked up and asked if Jeremy and I would join them for a bit of hitting and fielding practice. I coaxed Jeremy into it and we joined the 8 other guys and one other girl.

For starters, I strategically placed myself in right field so that I'd get as little action as possible and hoped that I'd just make one good catch so that I wouldn't be laughed off the field... this did happen by the way. I caught the one pop fly that came my way and even almost had to dive (luckily I didn't).

So, the group finally coaxed Jeremy into batting practice, and he, well, put the rest of the guys (none of whom were bad) to shame. There were lots of choice words of exclamation flying across the outfield as he would hit each ball waaaay past where everyone was standing. Then I hit, and well, we won't talk about that. Anyhow, we earned an invitation back to play next week.

All in 10 minutes work!

I had a wild ten minutes today on my walk by Fenway to the management company's office to update our lease for next year. So, I was walking down Landsdowne and stepped out in between cars to cross and a Bentley comes to a stop (it almost ran me over). I waved it by and it was Manny Ramirez on the way to the ballpark.

I then get on the phone with Jeremy to tell him that I was like a foot from Manny and his Bentley. Then, as I'm walking by the players parking garage, out comes Mike Lowell. I waved hi and he waved back. What an interesting 10 minutes.

Here is me at Fenway with my friend Lara when she was here in March. What a difference a month makes....today I was in a skirt and a short sleeve shirt with flip flops.

The Alternative Opening Day

Jeremy keeps saying "I need to write on the blog" but until he does you are just stuck with my updates. As promised, here is my opening day:

First, is my boss and I. Please pardon my appearance. I'm clearly wearing the wrong colors (of course I should be wearing blue and red), am pale from a winter in the north, and did little more than brush my hair in the morning (the beauty of short hair).
Here is picture of some of the residents watching the ring ceremony. It was neat to see them watch Bill Buckner throw out the first pitch. The lady in the red almost fell out of her wheelchair when Kurt Schilling got his World Series ring... she's a huge Schilling fan.
And the resident Yankee's fan. She wasn't going to come but they got her, her own Yankee's balloon, Yankee's plate, and Yankee's napkin. She's also the one that has tried to whack me with her grabber.
And finally, a video:

I'm revolting

While the rest of the country is experiencing spring, I am too. Well, maybe not quite yet, but I'm forcing the issue. April is too late for the winter coat, gloves, and thermals. They have returned to the winter clothing box and out has come my spring/fall jacket and sunglasses. Despite what the bank temperature said this afternoon at the bus stop (it said 39), I stood proudly in my jacket and sunglasses. Ha! winter you are DONE!

I've been leading my first group therapy sessions over the past month, and today at the end of the session while we were waiting on some aides to help some of the residents back to their rooms, we were talking about the Red Sox and opening day (which is tomorrow). Funny...all the ladies knew of Julio Lugo's terrible performance over the weekend (3 errors), and discussed how they would have removed him from the game. Only here...

So, tomorrow is Red Sox Opening Day IN Boston... I'll be at work, but no fear I won't miss a thing...we are having an opening day party with the residents. Complete with hot dogs, popcorn, and their favorite baseball drinks :0) I'm sure it will be wild. Maybe I'll remember the camera and post a picture or two.
